'Ban the Scan' is an Amnesty International campaign aimed at raising awareness about intrusive surveillance practices in cities like New York and Hyderabad. While the original campaign was primarily web-based, it lacked a direct, physical connection with the public. To amplify its impact, I developed a design solution that brought the message into the streets.

The project established a cohesive brand identity with bold typography, stark imagery, and a clear visual language that underscored urgency and visibility. This identity was applied across posters, billboards, and truck ads, ensuring that the campaign could not be overlooked in daily urban life. Additionally, augmented reality visuals were designed to appear on building facades, creating an interactive layer that merged digital activism with the physical cityscape.

By bridging Amnesty’s online campaign with real-world touchpoints, this solution turned Ban the Scan into a multi-platform movement—one that not only informed but also visually confronted the public with the realities of surveillance. The campaign’s design emphasised accessibility and boldness, ensuring that its message resonated across diverse audiences and urban environments.
